mathematical beauty

“The mathematical sciences particularly exhibit order, symmetry, and limitation; and these are the greatest forms of the beautiful.” Aristotle

The human fascination with beauty and symmetry is rooted in our biology. We interpret the healthy as beautiful and are drawn to it from an evolutionary urge. Nature’s mathematical models of perfection, such as the golden ratio or Fibonacci series are the aesthetic representation of flawless perfection.
Plastic surgery and the beauty industries provide countless methods of implementing mathematical order onto our external features. Are we now looking into our genes in pursuit of an ordered, perfect structure? Free from mutations, is the perfect genetic endowment a thing of beauty?
